This section provides a tutorial example showing the error of 'Missing emulator engine program for arm CPUS' when starting an Android emulator. This is caused missing emulator-arm.exe file in tools folder caused by anti-virus auto delete virus infected files. A few days after I created my Android emulators, I started to get an error when starting any emulator in 'AVD manager'. The error says: 'PANIC: Missing emulator engine program for 'arm' CPUS.' , see the screenshot below.
Android AVD Start Error - Missing 'arm' CPUS Based on reports on the Internet, this error is caused by missing the emulator-arm.exe file in the 'tools' folder. One possible root cause is the anti-virus program, which identifies the file as virus infected and deletes it automatically.
I get PANIC: Missing emulator engine program for 'arm' CPUS. I've even tried to create a different AVD using the using the chooser in IDEA next to the Even after I create on there and try to use it, I'll get a similar error as above ( for 'arm' of for 'x 86' depending on what I chose.) I also notice if I go back.
I am not sure what to the emulator-arm.exe file in my case. But I can run 'SDK Manager', uninstall 'Android SDK Tools 24.3.3' and install it again. After reinstalling 'Android SDK Tools 24.3.3', I see the file emulator-arm.exe is back in the tools folder. I have can start my Android emulator in AVD with no problem. Last update: 2015.
