Leave a comment If you ever have a problem in Quicken where you cannot backup your QDF data file, and you cannot even copy your QDF data file, then you may want to try the following. You can find your Quicken data file on your hard drive by going through Windows Explorer and navigating to the folder where Quicken saves its files. This is usually in the folder C:/Program Files/Quicken/Data (the 'C:/' is the letter assigned to hard drives in most computers). This is the default location set in Quicken where data files are saved.

In 4.5.6 or earlier, clicking on the Quicken icon to open its minimized window would sometimes crash for customers with 2 displays of different resolutions. Fixed an issue where Mac App Store customers who set up a custom backup folder couldn't open their file after upgrading. You will now be able to open your file but you will need to reset your custom backup folder location.

Fixed an issue some people reported where opening Quicken wouldn't automatically open their file if the file was on a file share. Fixed an issue where a small number of people couldn't open their file because of a file issue.

Quicken will now attempt to detect and automatically correct the issue prior to opening the file. In 4.5, bill payments over $10,000 were blocked to align with many banks but this also impacted customers and banks that supported payments over $10K. In this release, we've changed this to a warning that will tell you when you're making a payment over $10,000 but will allow you to still make the payment. Fixed an issue in the Quicken 2007 loan import feature where scheduled transactions were being created for closed loans. Intuit quicken for mac 2017 review

I have Q2003 with multiple data sets on a drive in my Windows XP computer. I would like to move them to a network drive (NTFS) that gets backed up nightly. I tried a backup and restore, but Quicken would not allow me to select a 'restore to' location. I cannot find a reasonable option in the menus or an explanation in the help.

I do not know enough about the Quicken guts to know how it keeps track of this folder. 1) How do I move Quicken data files from one folder to another in a manner that keeps Quicken happy? 2) How do I tell Quicken to use the new folder by default -- both for Opens and for Restores?

3) Does Quicken have a problem with backups being done outside of Quicken as well as within Quicken. Note that the network drive backup will clear the archive bit. 4) Does anything here change if I go to Quicken 2005?

Click to expand.Put a shortcut to the QDATA.QDF on your desktop, for one (where QDATA is the name you give your Quicken data fileset). Also, you can append the file name for Quicken to open when it starts at the end of the program name in the Properties of the desktop icon you run Quicken with (leaving at least one space between). I have virtually no experience with using networked files, but seem to remember that the trick is to map the file to a drive, then refer to that as the file to open.
