I just discovered a very useful feature of Mail.app. I'm on several mailing lists with frequent traffic, and I find myself switching between folders often as I have my messages sorted to them automatically. And because I have several thousand messages in each folder, every time I switched it would take two or three seconds. This was very annoying, until I found the solution. If you command-click in the mailboxes drawer on a given folder, you can select multiple folders.

All the messages of all selected folders will be displayed in the message list. This makes it very convenient for me, as I just command-click all my mailing list mailboxes and I can read all my new messages as they come in without switching mailboxes.
