Insert the CD. In the terminal, type 'cd /Volumes/UT2004_X' (where X is the CD number).
Type 'cp -rv * /Applications/Games/Unreal Tournament 2004.app'. Eject the CD 6. In the terminal, type 'cd /Applications/Games/Unreal Tournament 2004.app/System' 7. We are going to decompress the game data files now. Type 'find. grep uz2 xargs -n 1./ucc-bin decompress'.
If you want to save some disk space, you can delete the (now unneeded) compressed data. Do this by typing 'find. grep uz2 xargs rm -v' 9.
The game needs the CD key to run. Type 'echo XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX > cdkey' (where XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX is your CD key). You should be able to double click on the Unreal Tournament 2004 icon now, and it should run. Don't get fragged too much! Edit: FWIW, I've checked the EULA for UT2004 and it doesn't prohibit doing this. I can't find a EULA for the mac demo anywhere, so I assume it is the same as the full game. I've got a problem decompressing the files.
All *.uz2 files are in the folders they should be, when I give the 'find. grep uz2 xargs -n 1./ucc-bin decompress' command, it starts decompressing the files as expected, it ends as expected, I give the echo cd key command, seems okay. When I check the folders afterwards, all *.uz2 files are still there, the uncompressed ones are not. When I try to start UT2004, it says 'UT2004 could not be opened, it might be incomplete or damaged.' Which is ofcourse not strange when all *.uz2 files are still compressed. I'm on an iMac G5 on OS 10.4.7 Help would be greatly appreciated Edit: Found the decompressed files in the Library; still got the error. Unsuccessful ok, for starters - I'm not as 'programming' inclined as this method might require - but I followed all the steps layed out and upon clicking the icon I had flash of the loading window and then nothing. I then went into the system folder within the UT2004 folder and clicked on 'ut2004-bin' wherein I got a terminal display showing the following: /Applications/Games/Unreal Tournament 2004.app/System/ut2004-bin; exit Assertion failed: sizeof(*this)==GetClass()->GetPropertiesSize() [File:UnGame.cpp] [Line: 148] History: Exiting due to error logout [Process completed] Undeterred (or just stubborn) I tried running the patch again (3369) and now.
I can see everything from the full game but am unable to actually play any of the levels, select any of the avatars.etc etc. Also, sometimes the game will not respond to my mouse buttons - but it does respond to mouse movement. Very baffling. Sorry to dig this old thread up again. This method nearly works, I had to do things a bit differently to get the full game to work: - 1. Download the demo, install it and rename to 'Unreal Tournament 2004' 2. Copy over all the files as stated in the original post and decompress them.
Remove the compressed files if you want. Next click on the UT2004 icon and right click, then 'Show Contents'. Search for Demo*, *.exe, *.dll and delete the files. Also remove the DirectX folder. Do the cd-key bit from the original instructions. Apply the latest retail patch.

Mine said something about not having the right version of UT2004 but click on apply anyway. Fingers crossed, try running it.
