I hav eused ecxell for a long time to do simple tech drawings. I generate a shape and format it then i want to copy and paste it it. I click on the shape and click the Copy icon in Edit but the Paste icon does not light up and when I try to paste nothing happens. It's all dead. It works very well in my Excel for PC.

Then when I went back to plain Copy and Paste it now works fine. Well, it shouldn't be dead. Excel on the Mac works exactly the same as PC Excel in this regard.
Is everything fully up to date? I tried it with the latest version and it works fine. You select a shape and then copy it with Edit-Copy or command-c.
Then select a cell someplace else and paste. Have you tried creating a new user account and trying in that account? I have not been able to make copy and paste work so just now I tried Copy to Scrapbook and then Pasted - worked okay.
